Micron Virginia DRAM Ramp Targets Tight DDR4 Supply

Micron's Virginia fab has started producing advanced U.S.-made DRAM, with the Tom's Hardware report saying the expansion is intended to raise output and ease tight DDR4 availability for automotive and defense users.

This is a follow-up signal on Micron's U.S. memory expansion with a clearer DDR4 angle. The report says Micron is increasing DDR4 production because supply of the older standard has tightened unexpectedly, and the headline points to a major output expansion at the Virginia fab. That matters because DDR4 remains important in long-lifecycle markets such as automotive, defense and industrial systems even as consumer PCs have shifted toward DDR5. The pricing read leans lower over time for those specialty DDR4 segments, but the current shortage language suggests relief depends on ramp execution rather than immediate oversupply.
