AMD says Ryzen 7 5800X3D return was planned before DDR5 market shift

AMD’s client-product director says the company decided to revive its AM4 Ryzen 7 5800X3D before DDR5 market conditions changed, positioning the processor as an upgrade option for existing DDR4 systems.

Tom’s Hardware reports that AMD’s Travis Kirsch said CEO Lisa Su supported bringing back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, first introduced in 2022 and relaunched in 2026. Kirsch said the decision was already underway before the recent change in the memory market, rather than being a response to DDR5 shortages. The AM4 processor gives owners of compatible DDR4 systems another CPU upgrade path; the report does not claim that the relaunch will ease memory prices or supply constraints.
