YMTC has told investors that it wants to become the leading NAND flash producer by the end of 2027. The company is preparing an initial public offering on the Shanghai Stock Exchange that it expects to raise roughly $5 billion, with proceeds intended for facility upgrades and faster research and development. The expansion would support more sales to Chinese customers and additional international shipments. TechPowerUp reports that YMTC moved into third place in the second quarter, with bit shipments up 22% from a year earlier and 5% from the prior quarter. The same report puts Samsung at 25% share and SK hynix, including Solidigm, at 22%. A successful capacity push would intensify competition and could weigh on NAND pricing, although the financing and 2027 production target still depend on execution.
