Silicon Motion targets agentic AI with enterprise SSD reference design

Silicon Motion is pushing enterprise SSD controller design deeper into AI infrastructure. Its new MonTitan reference design kit is built around PerformaShape technology and is intended for workloads where AI agents continuously retain context, offload KV cache data, and generate changing read and write patterns. EE Times Asia says the design targets predictable quality of service, sustained performance, and endurance for always-on agentic AI use cases. The market signal is that SSD vendors are being pulled into the memory hierarchy discussion around AI, not just bulk storage. If agentic inference workloads expand, high-end enterprise SSDs may be treated as a persistent extension of system memory for some data-center tasks. That supports demand for PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD controllers and may reinforce premium segmentation in AI-oriented storage products.
