SK hynix Reportedly Reopens Dalian NAND Expansion as Solidigm Demand Rises

Reports indicate SK hynix is restarting expansion at Solidigm's Dalian NAND facility, potentially lifting local output by about 50% by 2027. If executed as described, the move would strengthen supply for high-capacity data-center SSDs while adding another strategic layer to the company's Solidigm plans.

Tom's Hardware, citing Asian media reports, says SK hynix has resumed investment in the second phase of Solidigm's Dalian fab in China after a multiyear pause. The report says tool installation could begin as early as November, with mass production of floating-gate 3D NAND in the first half of 2027. The added phase is described as roughly 50,000 wafer starts per month, which would raise the campus to about 150,000 WSPM when combined with the existing line. For RamTrend, the main significance is on the NAND and enterprise SSD side rather than DRAM. More output from Dalian could support Solidigm's high-capacity data-center drives, including 245 TB-class products mentioned in the report, and ease some supply pressure if AI-driven storage demand remains elevated. The separate discussion of a possible Solidigm IPO matters more as a financing and strategy signal than as a direct pricing catalyst, especially because SK hynix has not officially confirmed a listing decision.
