Microchip Technology announced a demonstration that pairs its Switchtec PCIe Gen 6 switches with Micron 9650 NVMe solid-state drives. The setup is aimed at high-throughput, low-latency storage connectivity for AI, high-performance computing, and cloud data-center workloads. The available report says the architecture can fan out PCIe Gen 6 bandwidth to multiple Micron SSDs and support composable or disaggregated system designs.
