Apacer Earnings Show Module Vendors Capturing the Memory Shortage Upside

Apacer reported an unusually strong second quarter as scarce memory supply and higher selling prices lifted module-vendor profitability.

DigiTimes reports that Apacer Technology's second-quarter net profit reached NT$2.7 billion, about US$83.8 million, with earnings per share of NT$20.9. The company also reported a first-half profit that was nearly 20 times the year-earlier level. For RamTrend, the important signal is that the shortage is already converting into measurable earnings leverage for module makers. The same market that raises procurement risk for PC, server and device buyers is expanding margins for vendors with available inventory and allocation access.
