Elan Warns CPU and DRAM Shortages Could Weigh on Second-Half PC Demand

DigiTimes reports that Taiwanese touch-controller maker Elan saw solid second-quarter operations but expects the PC market to become more difficult in the third quarter and second half. The company said component shortages are disrupting customer shipments and that it is staying ready for urgent orders. The RamTrend signal is that DRAM scarcity is showing up in comments from adjacent PC supply-chain vendors, not only memory suppliers. If OEM shipments are constrained by both CPU and DRAM availability, PC demand can look weaker even when end-user interest is not the only problem.
