Korea Memory Leaders Plan Decade-Scale Capacity Buildout

Samsung and SK hynix are tied to a ten-year South Korean investment plan that targets much larger DRAM and NAND output, making the announcement a long-range supply signal for memory markets.

TechPowerUp reports that Samsung and SK hynix are part of a roughly $870 billion South Korean semiconductor expansion plan spanning manufacturing capacity, data centers, and adjacent supply-chain areas. The memory-relevant part is direct: SK hynix would cover DRAM and NAND Flash, while Samsung would cover DRAM, NAND Flash, and logic. For RamTrend, the most important detail is the stated goal to double DRAM production capacity within five years and materially improve NAND Flash capacity. That does not solve near-term tightness, because fab additions and wafer output take years to arrive. It does, however, reinforce that Korea's leading memory suppliers are positioning for sustained AI, storage, and client demand through the next decade.
