Solidigm outlines denser enterprise SSD roadmap around floating-gate NAND and PCIe 6.0

Solidigm used a Tom's Hardware interview to describe how it sees the next phase of enterprise SSD development. The company said its high-capacity portfolio is being driven by AI data center demand, with 122TB-class drives already established and a roughly 245TB usable-capacity product expected later in 2026. It also said floating-gate QLC NAND remains central to its strategy, with further NAND generations, higher die stacking, and eventual PLC development still under evaluation. On the interface side, Solidigm said PCIe Gen6 SSDs are on its roadmap, but timing will depend on platform readiness and customer value versus more mature Gen5 products. The company also argued that liquid cooling could become necessary for top-end AI storage deployments as bandwidth rises. For the memory market, the takeaway is not an immediate pricing shock but a sign that AI infrastructure is sustaining demand for advanced enterprise NAND, controllers, packaging, and dense SSD form factors.
